Credit Card Debt Settlement

Eliminate Credit Card Debt

During 2006, the average American consumer carried about $12,000 in unsecured credit card debt. This is a very significant amount considering that wages have remained stagnant over the past 6 to 8 years and individuals and families have begun to resort to their credit cards to pay their daily and monthly expenses.

Using a credit card in this manner accumulates credit card debt of the worst possible kind. When you are using a credit card to pay for something like an electricity or gas bill, groceries or gasoline, unless you pay off the balance in its entirety every month, you are paying interest on goods and/or services that have already depreciated or been used up. This is considered Bad Debt of the worst kind.

Credit Card Debt Begets More Credit Card Debt

A good rule of thumb to observe when using credit cards is if you can't afford to use cash, then you shouldn't be spending the money. In today's economy this rule has become more and more difficult to follow. Families and individuals all over the country are racking up debt, whether it's for keeping up appearances or taking care of necessities, people all over are in deep credit card debt.

Once you have grown your credit card debt into an unmanageable amount and can only afford minimum payments, you should consider looking into some sort of debt relief, be it debt settlement, bankruptcy or debt consolidation.

Debt Settlement Improves Debt-to-Income Ratio

Credit card debt settlement can put your debt-to-income ratio back on an even keel, which is very important to lenders. Creditors look very closely at the debt-to-income ratio of a potential customer, and once you no longer owe more every month than you make, you will become more attractive as a customer.
