How to Save Money

One way to save money is to deprive yourself of some of the things that you spend money on every day. This may sound close to excoriating for the individual that has become used to the daily $6.00 morning or noon time pick-me-up from the corner coffee shop, or the $10.00 and above lunches with the crew at work. You can either bite the bullet and get yourself out of debt now or struggle on and continue spending until the indebtedness forces you into a position in which you do not want to be.

Bag a Lunch and Buy a Thermos

For some, extra goodies like the outrageously overpriced coffee and lunches and dinners out have become daily rituals or habits instead of occasional treats. If the blithe spending of money that you can’t really afford to spend has become part of keeping up appearances with your peers, then you need to make some changes now. If you take out payday loans or make cash calls for the money to buy crap that you don’t really need, then you need to change your habits or get used to either being deeply in debt or living in the gutter.

Make A Grocery Budget and Stop Eating Dinners Out

Go to the grocery store and buy groceries instead of eating meals out. Make a list and stick to your grocery budget. Families especially can save hundreds if not thousands of dollars a year by bringing back the Family Dinner Hour. Cook you own meals and sit down as a family to enjoy it together. You will save money on your most basic need, food, and you will almost undoubtedly find your family becoming closer and communicating better.

Cut out the Cable TV or the Premium Services

If you are in deep debt then you don’t really need HBO and Showtime. You can save a nice chunk of cash by eliminating these premium channels. When you think about, how often does HBO or Showtime even play freshly released movies anymore? - Not until long after they’ve been released to their Pay-Per-View service. Why the heck pay for a movie channel that only plays dated movies anyway?

Stop Buying New Clothes & Accessories

Do you spend excessive amounts of money on clothes or shoes? You know who you are! You don’t have to have a different shirt or blouse for every day of the month. You don’t have to buy designer clothes either. You don’t necessarily have to start buying all you clothes at Wal-Mart, you just needn’t buy new clothes every week.

Stop the Cell Phone Madness

Almost everyone has a cell phone this day and age. If you are paying for cell phone service for your children under 16 years of age, you might consider canceling it. After all, did you need a cell phone when you were 14 or 15 years old? Of course you didn’t, because there was no such thing!

If your kids aren’t old enough or responsible enough to work and pay for their own cell phones then they likely don’t need one.
